Easily bored without a drink or a book in hand, Herlock does his best not to ever end up in that situation. He is interested in people as long as they are able to hold an intersting conversation, often prodding them to talk about themselves rather than him.
He'll waste his time watching people go on about their busy lives, drinking, gambling and otherwise act as if the world isn't passing him by. Aloof, he don't give himself the time to worry, figuring things have a way of working out. And if not, he always have some skills to fall back on.

Herlock, or as he was once known, Ilfeux Voufois, was the youngest son of one Cioreux Voufois, a distinguished Ishgardian knight. Ilfeux main wish in life was to relax, read and study but as the only male heir, he was espected to follow his father into knighthood. He made knight, but made no attempt to make a name for himself, coasting off his father's deeds for as long as he could.
With the end of the Dragonsong War, he thought he could finally be able to step back, put his sword down and return to his beloved study.
An argument with his father and oldest sister shattered those hopes. While there was now peace, it simply meant that his duties had changed. He was introduced to a clever girl, Monette, his new fiancée.
Faced with the lack to choose his own life yet again, he found himself slipping away one day, leaving the cold lands behind. Hopefully for good, or until his family made peace with him not complying with the future they had planned for him.
Letting go of his name was easy, and he adopted a new one from a beloved character in a favorite book, setting off into the world. He was sure he could make it on his own, if he wanted.
Do I know you
Since he's not really making an effort to hide who he is, he could easily be recognized by someone who knew his family back in Ishgard, or even knights he once trained with himself.
To serve
Despite cutting ties with his family, he is a knight, and have troubles not poking his nose into things better left alone if he thinks he can help.
People watching
He enjoys a drink, and watching people go about their lives. Any place with a bar, a place to sit and other patrons and it's likely he'll have visited.
Just a bad streak
If you frequent the Gold Saucer, you might have seen Herlock by the chocobo races, usually losing his bets. As much as he fancies himself skilled at predicting the bird's skills, his wallet says otherwise.

Either very fast, or slow! English is my second language, and sometimes an idea will take a hot minute. I avoid large rp crowds because chat spam actually makes me anxious about missing someone. Grammatical and spelling errors! I'm sorry, but I try my best!
Both ingame and discord RP is okay, just be aware I work full hours which means I can take a bit to reply.
If we rp and either of us feel we're not a good match, I'll be polite enough to say so. Hopefully you'll extend the same courtesy.
